FAQ
The LOV.Cup is not placed in the same place as a classic menstrual cup. It is positioned just under the cervix and not in the vaginal canal. This more physiological position, which respects your body, gives you much greater comfort, reduces the intensity of contractions sometimes felt during your period and also allows you to have intimate relations if you wish. In addition, the LOV.Cup does not cause any "suction cup" effect when it is removed, which makes it perfectly suited to women who use an IUD as a means of contraception.
INSERTION : The LOV.Cup is ultra-soft, making it very easy to insert. Simply pinch it with your fingers so that its diameter becomes smaller than that of a tampon and then insert it as you would a tampon into the vaginal canal, pushing it down and back into the fornix, towards the tailbone. Use your thumb or index finger to slide the front edge of the LOV.Cup up, behind your pubic bone. When it is correctly inserted, you should not feel it at all.
REMOVAL : Relax, insert your finger (index finger) and gently grab the rim of the LOV.Cup from below. Pull gently while ensuring that the LOV.Cup remains horizontal to avoid spilling the contents. Clean it and remember to sterilize it with our sterilizer for future use.
The LOV.Cup is designed to easily fit all women regardless of their anatomy (retroverted uterus, vaginal delivery). It is placed in the vaginal fornix, at the top of the vagina, which is often the same size from one person to another. So there is no need to ask yourself any questions about choosing a size.
YES TOTALLY! Unlike a classic menstrual cup, the LOV.Cup is not positioned in the vaginal canal but in the fornix. Its physiological position does not cause any suction when it is removed. It therefore does not risk moving or sucking up your IUD, and making it less effective in its contraceptive action.
YES TOTALLY! If you wish, you can have penetrative sex while wearing the LOV.Cup without feeling any discomfort. Unlike a classic cup, the LOV.Cup is not positioned in the vaginal canal but at the fornix, behind the pubic bone, so it does not hinder penetration for you or your partner. It also limits the risk of leaks during intercourse so that you no longer have to worry about staining your sheets during your intimate moments.
***IMPORTANT :
The LOV.Cup is not intended to be used as a method of contraception. Consider using appropriate contraception if you do not want to become pregnant.
The length of protection we should advise you on was a major concern for us when designing the product. Given everything we've heard on the subject, we decided to talk to gynecologists to recommend a length of use that we were certain would not expose you to any risk.
In the current state of research and medical knowledge, it is now recognized that wearing any type of intravaginal period protection (cup, classic and organic tampons, sponges) for more than 6 to 8 hours can promote the onset of a rare, but nevertheless serious, condition, namely Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).
Before this 6 to 8 hour period, the TSST-1 toxin responsible for the infection does not have time to multiply significantly in the body and therefore cannot cause serious damage. So, the only recommendation is that whatever protection you choose, remember to renew it regularly and do not believe the false marketing promises that guarantee protection for more than 8 hours.
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare (less than 20 cases per year) but serious condition caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus (golden staph). 30 to 40% of individuals are healthy carriers of this bacteria (men, women, children), meaning they will never develop associated symptoms. TSS is not caused by tampons themselves, even if the composition (rayon, viscose, chemical residues) of some is suspected of promoting its appearance, but by the accumulation of blood in the vagina. When golden staph reaches a high concentration, it releases the toxin TSST-1. The latter, which causes TSS, then passes into the blood and causes shock and damage to certain organs. If you experience any of the following symptoms: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, sunburn-like rash, immediately remove your intravaginal protection (tampon, cup) and if symptoms persist, seek emergency medical attention.
